We buy houses cash12 Great Riches of Life- What are You Thankful For?

If you’re like me, the end of the year marks a time of psychological “bookends”, consisting of December 31st and January 1st, with which to enclose the accomplishments, triumphs, defeats, and overall; gauge the forward progress (or lack thereof) of another year, irretrievably past.

I hope you’ve checked off a good number of the goals you set for 2019.  Those that you have not completed may be carried forward to 2020, or re-evaluated in the light of changing circumstances or priorities, and left off entirely.

As Real Estate Investors (or those who aspire to such), I’d imagine we don’t have much trouble setting financial goals for the coming year.

Napoleon Hill devoted over 40 years to studying the most successful men of his generation, and came to know intimately such fabulous success stories as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and Theodore Roosevelt.  At the beginning of his studies, Dr. Hill defined “success” purely in financial terms, and plowed forward with the certainty that discovering the cause of financial success would simultaneously lead to the discovery of human happiness.

After studying the 500 most successful men of his generation, as well as making statistical study of over 16,000 people classed as “failures”, Dr. Hill isolated 12 things that are necessary for true, enduring riches.  They are here presented in order, and Dr. Hill points out that it is not by accident that money is listed in last place (a telling point coming from the man who likely created more millionaires than any person in history).

The 12 Great Riches of Life:

  1. A positive mental attitude.
  2. Sound physical health.
  3. Freedom from all forms of fear.
  4. The hope of future achievement.
  5. The capacity for applied faith.
  6. Willingness to share one’s blessings with others.
  7. To be engaged in a labor of love as an occupation.
  8. An open mind on all subjects, towards all people.
  9. Complete self-discipline.
  10. Wisdom with which to understand others.
  11. Harmony in human relationships.
  12. Financial Security.

As you set your 2020 goals, be sure not to overlook the acquisition and expansion of these other, higher estates of mind.
